Catherine Hillsten is an award-winning, enthusiastic educator who is passionate about helping teachers be successful in their classrooms. She is currently a middle school counselor with 26 years of experience teaching science, reading, and math. Catherine is the co-author of the Fearless Fractions series. Her experience in understanding a student’s thinking process brought a unique perspective to the creation of Fearless Fractions. Students identify with and are successful in problem-solving the real-life situations Catherine depicts in Fearless Fractions.
She has trained a multitude of teachers at conferences around the country. Her bubbly personality is infectious and her positive energy influences teachers to be excited about teaching rational numbers.
Catherine Hillsten was selected to be a member of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She also was honored by receiving the Nederland ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year award and Texas Middle School Association Teacher of the Year for Region V. Through her church activities, she serves the community of Nederland, Texas.
